Vaastu Shastra teaches us how to be in peace with the subtle nature of Planet Earth, the Space around us and explains how to bring balance within ourselves and our homes. Vaastu Shastra is an ancient science and art, relating to architecture and design. It gives us an understanding about the very structure of Space or Cosmology. Going back thousands of years, approximately 10,000 according to the late Dr. Ganapati Sthapati, a traditional architect, who received the Padma Bhushan award, which is the third highest civilian award in the Republic of India, this knowledge belongs to the clan of Shilpies or architects.
The very essence of Vaastu Shastra is to design and build buildings in harmony with nature. Harmony with nature means when all visible and invisible forces of energies are balanced. The source of all energies is Absolute Space. The Space where we – the people live and the intergalactic “vacuum”, according to Vaastu Shastra is not empty at all. It is a part of the Absolute Space.Yes, the space we live in is filled with air and different physical components, but this is only the manifestation of physical elements supporting our physical existence. In Vaastu Shastra we are talking about Absolute Space where everything else exists including the entire visible universe. This Absolute Space is packed with an incredible energy. The source of this energy and of the entire Universe, is the subtle energy consisting of “God’s particles” called Paramanu(s). Our modern day scientists are still looking at subatomic particles and searching for the smallest one, to find the beginnings of it all. But old Shastra’s already identified this particle and named it Paramanu or Super Atom. Paramanu is described in Surya Siddhanta authored by Mayan, in Mayamatam- A Treatise on Architecture. The goal of Vaastu design is to create a living space which gives us comfort, peace of mind and charge us with the energy of life and move us forward in our spiritual development.
